Soul on Fire
Debuting in the year 2000 at HUC in New York, Soul on Fire helped usher in a new era of Jewish music for congregations around America.
Soul On Fire seeks to bring a message of hope, of goodness, of mending the world - ‘Tikkun Olam', of bridge building - between ourselves and others, between ourselves and ourselves. What distinguishes each one of us is fascinating - what unites us is astonishing.
Soul On Fire is a meditative musical journey of discovery, taking the audience through peaks and valleys, from the simple to the complex, from the quiet to the tumultuous. The narrative is loosely woven, serving like a tour guide, maneuvering the journey through its many changes. The music weaves East with West, ancient with contemporary, classical with folk.
Soul On Fire is about balance - balance of musical styles, moods, texts and sounds. We chose a blend of meditative, uplifting, and ecstatic songs. We wanted to open the gates of our tradition and show the world the breadth of our cultural heritage. To highlight the meeting points, the shared truths, while celebrating the uniqueness of the various cultures we touch upon throughout the performance.
